40 How Well Do You Know Me Questions for Couples

Forty how well do you know me questions for couples, from easy everyday ones to long-distance and future ones, plus a free two-player game that asks them and keeps score.

The best "how well do you know me" questions have an answer your partner could plausibly get wrong. "What's my favourite colour" is over in a second. "What do I need after an argument" is a conversation.

Below are forty questions, sorted by how brave you're feeling. They're the same ones that are in How Well Do You Know Me, the two-player quiz in the arcade, so you can read them out on a call or let the game ask them and keep score.

How to play

One of you asks, both of you answer. You answer for yourself, and your partner guesses what you said. Then swap. A point for every correct guess.

Four possible answers work better than an open question. Nobody can argue that "pasta" and "spaghetti" should count as the same thing, and picking between four makes you commit.

Easy ones to start with

  1. What's my usual breakfast: nothing, toast or cereal, a proper cooked one, or whatever's in the fridge?
  2. How do I treat my alarm: up on the first ring, or snoozing it three times?
  3. What's my takeaway order?
  4. How do I text: lots of short messages, one long paragraph, voice notes, or memes?
  5. What's the state of my room right now?
  6. Where does my clean laundry live: put away, in the basket, or on a chair?
  7. What's my biggest pet peeve?
  8. What's the last thing I do before I sleep?
  9. What do I do when I'm stressed: clean, snack, go quiet, or talk it out?
  10. On a free weekend, what time do I actually wake up?

About the two of us

  1. What was my first impression of you?
  2. When did I know this was serious?
  3. Which visit has been the best so far?
  4. How do I handle saying goodbye at the airport?
  5. What are we most likely to squabble about?
  6. What's the little routine that keeps us close?
  7. What makes me miss you most: other couples, weekends, a bad day, or good news with nobody to hug?
  8. How do I say sorry?
  9. What's my favourite thing to do on a video call?
  10. What am I proudest of about us?

Long-distance ones

  1. What's the first thing I want to do when we're finally together?
  2. What's my favourite way to keep in touch?
  3. What's the best surprise I could get in the post?
  4. What do I miss most when we're apart?
  5. How do I count down to the next visit, or do I refuse to count?
  6. On a late-night call, am I the first asleep or the one talking till sunrise?
  7. What's the sweetest thing you can say to me?
  8. What's the hardest part of being far apart, for me?
  9. And what's the best part, if there is one?
  10. What does "home" mean to me: a place, a person, or a feeling?

The future

  1. What's the biggest thing we need to sort out before we close the distance?
  2. Where do I think we should end up living?
  3. When do I think we'll finally be in the same place?
  4. What does my ideal wedding look like, if there is one?
  5. What's our first shared home like?
  6. How do I think we'll split the chores?
  7. How should we handle money together?
  8. Where do the holidays get spent?
  9. What's at the top of our shared bucket list?
  10. What am I most looking forward to?

Let the game ask

Reading questions off a list works, but somebody has to keep score and somebody always peeks. In the game you both answer and guess at the same time, and neither answer shows until you've both locked in. Then they flip over together.

There are six packs of twenty: Couples, Us, Future, Everyday, Friends and Deep. Pick 5, 10 or 15 questions a game. Ten takes about five minutes, not counting the conversations it starts.

It's free, there's nothing to install, and your partner joins from a link. If you like it, In Sync is the quicker, lighter version: this or that, scored together.
